What Is Family Counselling?
Family counselling sessions are conducted by a family therapist, which can be a psychologist or social worker. Family therapy typically involves 10 to 12 sessions on the average. But the length of the therapy will largely depend on the issues that need to be addressed or resolved.
Through family counselling, families are aided by therapists in communicating better, understanding underlying issues, solving problems, and finding new ways to co-exist. While it is true that family counselling is not an assurance that family problems will go away, this form of therapy still gives family members a chance to get through tough times or situations.
Why See A Family Counsellor?
Support during difficult life stages
Difficult life stages like death, divorce, and relocation can negatively affect family dynamics. Family counselling can help those who struggle to cope with these stressful moments.
Resolving family conflicts
Family counselling can help you build a stronger home by resolving conflicts and improving communication in the family.
Improve communication in a family
Often times, lack of communication between family members can fuel discontent in a home. It can also cause family members to grow apart, creating a perfect breeding ground for problems to crop up in the future.
Make families stronger
With the assistance of a family counsellor, the family will be able to identify reasons behind conflicts and misunderstandings in the family. This can very well end up saving the marriage.
