My Approach

My approach to counselling is based on using Emotional Intelligence and Mindfulness. This will allow us to tackle the mental, emotional and physical problems that are causing you distress.  An important part of this process is being able to talk in confidence to a trained professional. This is what I offer to you. A safe space to work through any of your psychological issues.

Counselling is offered in different formats, including individual, couple, family or group therapy sessions, and it is effective for all age groups. The way that a session is conducted varies depending on the individual situation.

 

What to Expect?

During Counselling

During a counselling session, the therapist will ask certain questions to better assess the patient’s situation. Some of the questions may be about the patient’s motive to seek therapy, personal history and current situation, and symptoms. Diagnosis of the problem may take one to two sessions.

Therapist Role

The therapist would then discuss with the patient a plan moving forward. This typically involves setting several general goals as well as the frequency of the meetings. The patient may also ask the therapist questions about the plan of treatment.

 

Team Effort

It is worth mentioning that counselling should not be treated as a quick-fix. It can take several sessions before progress starts to become apparent. Additionally, counselling requires a strong bond between the counsellor and the patient. This important element can lead to an effective treatment plan for resolving any issues or problems confronted by the patient.
