Helping You Find Success With Personalized Counselling

All About Counselling

Life has its ups and downs. During times of struggle, many seek help from people who won’t judge them. They also look for help from those who don’t tell them what to do.  Instead, they find solace in being with people who will listen, support, and guide them in finding solutions to their problems. Counselling services in Hong Kong can provide these to people who are going through difficult times.

What Is Counselling?

Counselling is a type of talking therapy or psychotherapy that provides people with a safe, confidential, and reassuring environment to discuss their problems and share their feelings. Counselling in Hong Kong can help people who are suffering from a mental health condition like anxiety or depression; a difficult life event like the loss of a loved one, or even a frustrating physical health condition like infertility.

Many people choose counselling because they get to interact with a trained professional who will not judge them nor tell them what to do. It’s also ideal for people who find it hard to speak with their partners, friends, and family members about personal issues. Speaking with a professional who can provide an objective viewpoint can be a more appealing and practical option.

Types of Counselling

The beauty with counselling is that it can be tailor-made to suit the individual. This type of counselling takes several forms or types such as:

One of the more widely popular psychotherapy formats, it gives the patient the opportunity to meet the counsellor in person. It can also provide patients with the chance to react to any emotions or issues that may arise during the session.

Telephone Counselling

An alternative to personal counselling, it is ideal for people who don’t have the time to attend a face-to-face counselling session. It is more flexible, too, and can lead to the reduced waiting time for the patient.

Online Counselling

This offers patients the chance to hide their identities. Utilizing technology and using email instead, it also allows the patient time to through ideas, emotions, and feelings they want to share with the counsellor.

My Approach

My approach to counselling is based on using Emotional Intelligence and Mindfulness. This will allow us to tackle the mental, emotional and physical problems that are causing you distress.  An important part of this process is being able to talk in confidence to a trained professional. This is what I offer to you. A safe space to work through any of your psychological issues.

Counselling is offered in different formats, including individual, couple, family or group therapy sessions, and it is effective for all age groups. The way that a session is conducted varies depending on the individual situation.

What to Expect?

During Counselling

During a counselling session, the therapist will ask certain questions to better assess the patient’s situation. Some of the questions may be about the patient’s motive to seek therapy, personal history and current situation, and symptoms. Diagnosis of the problem may take one to two sessions.

Therapist Role

The therapist would then discuss with the patient a plan moving forward. This typically involves setting several general goals as well as the frequency of the meetings. The patient may also ask the therapist questions about the plan of treatment.

Team Effort

It is worth mentioning that counselling should not be treated as a quick-fix. It can take several sessions before progress starts to become apparent. Additionally, counselling requires a strong bond between the counsellor and the patient. This important element can lead to an effective treatment plan for resolving any issues or problems confronted by the patient.
